To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possible be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries, void all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket--safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken, it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable...The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers of and perturbations of love is Hell.

Still

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
Within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

Cribs

Have you ever seen the show MTV Cribs?

I haven't, but when the speaker tonight explained it to me it did sound a lot like Psalm 73's description of wicked people.

Check out Psalm 73 and see what you think, its almost scary how accurate it is.

One thing he said was that we often look at people doing better then us and ask God, "Why that person and not me?". Then we look at some aspects that are not so hot in our own lives and ask God, "Why us and not them?". In light of these questions, check out Psalm 73 and look at the authors conclusion.

The pivotal point in the chapter came at verse 17.

Interesting...

Im getting kicked out of my friends room. Lets humble ourselves before God.

Check out this interesting web chat if you haven't already between two prolific Christian leaders of today, Derek Webb and Donald Miller.

Lets get this rolling...

Hello everyone,

This is the very first post of a blog that will be meant for college students but because of the Christian content will be enjoyed by many.

There a couple things this blog will need from you guys to make it work effectively...
  • An Audience
I obviously refuse to pull anyone's arm and tell them to read this blog, but if you check back periodically and even comment on the future posts it will go a long way to making this blog work well and prosper. =)
  • Your Participation
Hey, I need you guys! If you have anything you would like to be on this blog please e-mail me at jhnylake@gmail.com and share the wealth! You might not think you have anything worthy of being shared but there are often people out there who will be blessed with your material. This can come in many forms such as testimonies, poems, short stories, song lyrics, thoughts, scripture passages, scripture commentary, experiences, videos, websites you recommend, almost anything. Just e-mail me so I can proof them, if necessary we can talk about them, and put that bad-boy up!
  • Babies!!!
There is far too much going on in the world to fit it on one blog. This blog will focus on college life and college relevant material as much as possible, but even that is a huge topic. I would encourage you guys to start your own personal blogs and connect with this blog, and other blogs all over the web. Lets populate! Even if you don't post very often, it is still a great way to stay connected and organize and share your thoughts. You can also always recommend this site to friends to help spread thoughtful Christian conversation, hey you never know, we could have baby blogs all over the place.

I hope this is received well and I can't wait to see this blog up and running. I have a couple of things that are archived so I can post them up without any delay. Feel free to ask questions, comment your life away, and make this an active website.

God bless you all and stay strong in the Lord!
